Fish Mentorship · FAQ
No goal, no seat
What people ask before they say yes.
Basics
Who is it for?
YNG and YPO members at any stage of life, with goals from starting a business to retiring.
What are the three phases?
1. Why. Your goal, why it matters now, and your one-page goal sheet. 2. Mentor and mentee. Who you need: a mentor, a sponsor or a coach. 3. Go fish. The words to reach them, and how to search your own network.
Each phase has an A before the meeting (a short form and two reads) and a B after it (your updated one-pager). See the program.
What do I bring?
One real goal: From, To, By date. No goal, no seat.
What if I don't have a goal yet?
The intake form asks a few short questions that turn a vague idea into a goal. Two or three drafts is normal.
Will I be matched with a mentor?
No. You learn to find your own, and your table helps. You get a one-page summary of your goal: your Whos, who to ask, and how to ask.
Mentor, coach or sponsor: what's the difference?
A mentor has done it. A coach helps you do it. A sponsor opens the door. Most goals need one or two, sometimes all three. The session shows which.
Who runs it?
A Fish Mentorship-trained facilitator.
Do I need to be good with technology?
No. We use AI tools with our own prompts behind the scenes to turn your intake answers into your one-page summary. You do not have to use any AI yourself. Using AI on your own contacts is optional, and we will show you how after the first meeting.
What happens when I join a session?
At the session, a QR code is on the screen. Scan it with your phone camera, type your first name, email and mobile, and agree to the session being recorded. Then you are in your own Ripple. No goal to type, no form to fill in.
Already have a Ripple? We never make you a second one. Open it on the phone you used before, or sign in with your email and password.
What is my one-pager?
One page for your goal: the goal and by when, why it matters, your pivot date (the day you decide to keep going, pivot or stop), three people who could help (a mentor first, then a sponsor or a coach) and your first ask.
After the session, Fish AI drafts it from what you said. Open Ripple, check it, change anything, and press Confirm. Nothing is sent to anyone when you confirm.
Time and format
How much time does it take?
Three short phases. Each one is a 5 to 10 minute form with two short reads, then one group meeting of 60 to 90 minutes. Or all three in one sitting: a 2 to 3 hour session. Not an ongoing commitment.
How does my chapter book it?
A Forum (4 to 6 people), a chapter event, a learning event or a regional event (100+ people at 12 tables). Email fishmentorship@gmail.com.
When does it start?
The first pilots ran this fall. Next: Chicago the week of December 3, 2026, and Mosaic at FAU by the end of February 2027.
After the session
What happens after the session?
After the third phase, your choice: keep going as a group, one-on-one mentoring, a coach, or stop clean with a thank-you. None of it is required.
Can I change my goals later?
Yes. After you submit, you get a private link to add or change goals and track your four dates.
Privacy and advice
Is it confidential?
Yes. Tables run forum-style: what's said at the table stays there.
Is the session recorded?
When a session uses Fish AI, yes. You are asked before you join. Fish AI is powered by Memava. It turns what you say into text so it can draft your one-page summary. The audio is deleted after it becomes text. What is said at your table still stays at your table: only you, your facilitator and the Fish Mentorship team see your summary.
Why do you ask for my mobile number?
So your facilitator can text you after the session, for example a reminder to send your first ask. We never share it outside the program.
What happens to my information?
Your answers are used only to write your summary and place you at a table. They are never sold or shared outside the program. You can ask us to delete them any time at fishmentorship@gmail.com.
Is this professional advice?
No. Fish Mentorship is peer learning. Nothing here is professional, legal, financial or investment advice, and we do not vet or guarantee anyone you meet.
Ripple
NewSmall casts. Big ripples.
Ripple is a private app for your goal. It is optional. Here is how it works, in plain words.
What is Ripple?
Ripple is your private app for your goal. After you send the intake form, you get a private link. Open it on your phone to see one small next step at a time, your goal and its four dates, the people who could help, a one-minute weekly check-in and your wins.
It is optional. If you already have your link, open Ripple. You can add it to your phone's home screen from the More menu.
What does Ripple keep?
Your first name, your email, your goals, your four dates for each goal, your next small step, your notes, short descriptions of the kinds of people you are looking for, your check-ins and your wins. No names are needed. If you joined at a session, it also keeps your mobile number (so your facilitator can text you) and your one-pager. It does not keep your LinkedIn page, your organization or your IP address.
It is kept on our server, in a folder that is closed to the web. Only your private link opens it. Nothing you add in Ripple is sent to any AI by us. The optional AI helpers open your own ChatGPT or Claude with a prompt you can read first, or you can copy the prompt. What you send from there is up to you.
Pages report technical errors (the error message and page name only) so we can fix them.
How do I delete my Ripple data?
Open your private link, choose More, then Delete my data. You will be asked to confirm. It removes everything we keep for you there. You can download a copy first.
If you would rather not do it yourself, email fishmentorship@gmail.com and ask us to delete it.
I lost my link. What now?
Your link is the only key to Ripple, so keep it private. Look for the email you sent yourself with the Email me this link button, for the icon on your phone's home screen, or for the page in your browser history.
Still stuck? Email fishmentorship@gmail.com with the first name and email you used, and we will help. You can also send the intake form again to get a new link.
